Jim, in the Michigan area in 1957, Johnny Roberts was racing in the modified class and decided to take one of these Crosleys and chop it up creating a really light car. He put a Studebaker engine in and started winning at will, on dirt and pavement, it didn't matter. Finally others started copying this car and a separate series was created because no one could beat them. They became Supermodifieds and the rest is history.Great little car!!Pete

I had heard that a Crosley had been raced at Soldiers Field Chicago against a Cadilac.

In the early 50s, they raced them in the Jefferson County Armory in Louisville in the winter. Also, the Crosley single overhead cam engine was the powerplant of choice for TQ midgets up into the 70s.

Jim, I found this picture and it is Harry Hyde's first race car, according to the person who submitted it. It's from the early 50's and a Crosley. Does anyone remember??Pete
