Local Racing News on AM 640 WFNC
Was listening to AM 640 WFNC News Radio Fayetteville, NC Monday night with Larry Long, track announcer at Fayetteville Motor Speedway and Dublin Motor Speedway and Editor & Publisher of Life in the Fast Lane Racing News covering the Carolina Clash. It was neat thing to hear local racing news on the radio again
At least you get some kind of racing news in your area we don't even have a station that carries the cup series in the HP-Greensboro-WS area anymore if I didn't have sirrius radio in Tammy's car I couldn't even hear cup races.
That's ridiculous Mike. Here in Fayetteville FM 95.7 WKML carries the Sprint races and used to carry the Busch races, sometimes 94.3 carries Sprint. This morning I was surprised to see the Fayetteville Observer newspaper's front page headline the Carolina Clash and had a great article about Scott Autry's heart felt win for the race named after his late step-mother. Also, the Observer posts all the local racing news in the sports section on Mondays. It's really good to see this exposure however, there has to be some influence in the top management that supports racing, otherwise I doubt the radio or paper would carry any news either. Is Greensboro and Winston-Salem soft and milky liberal cities? That's the only reason I could think of that would prevent those god aweful loud, green house producing, carbon footprint making, redneck wheeling, conservative value toting, race car drivers from making the news.
If anyone is interested in listening in on Monday night from 8-9pm to catch up on the local racing scene around Cape Fear region, and if you do and like what you hear send them an email and let them know your thoughts and approval, let's give WFNC some support for supporting local racing. http://tunein.com/radio/WFNC-640-s28813/ Again, the Cape Fear Region Racing Report is on from 8-9 every Monday night.
Robbie, we'll have to sit down and tell me the story of your last night job. Price of gas is the big issue for me this year, $200 to travel 4 hours round trip...I can't justify it.I listened to the radio show last night and it only lasted about 15 minutes, started at 8:25 and ended at 9:40...I emailed them and let them know that they will get far more support from listeners of the race community than they would talking about golf or any other game played with balls.
