Sadly, one of racing communities finest track is closing. Nestled in upstate NY at the Fairgrounds the track stood as a solid fixture and hosted 'SuperDirtWeek' now will becomemore a memory, a tacit reminder of what was.
Certainly the new facility should be marvelous and grand, but the grandstands at the Fairgrounds will be a hard thing to recapture. The Moody Mile will remain mute from the roar of Big Block Modifieds. Leaving in its wake a permanent dawn. Jack Johnson, Brett Hearn, Bob McCreadie and a litany of others, now just a ledger's entry. An ancient racing program bearing the points standing of each year, while old black and white photographs of drivers and cars highlight youth and aging.
I guess that 'change' is inevitable and soon new legacies will appear as veteran drivers and newcomers prep for racing nights and the memories like yellowed pages lives on.
