Love the way the price and tax are spelled out to make 50 cents.

Dave, I found records in my research of Bennett Speedway that race tracks were heavily taxed in the 50's. State and Federal taxes had to be paid on every ticket and the tax was different for a grandstand seat verses a pit pass. These were in addition to income taxes. Bennett Speedway did not sell programs but I'm not surprised to see how they accounted for the tax. They also had to collect sales tax on concession sales. Not knowing tax law may have been the reason for a lot of ghost tracks.

Interesting observation, Dennis. I can remember in my youth the Amusement tax in Richmond being listed like that on the 50 cents General Admission tickets I bought to the local AAA baseball games. There was no sales tax in Virginia or Richmond at the time, so the tax was figured as the Riverside program tax so there were no odd pennies to collect.
