Remembering Bob "Gilley" Gillelan

From Dennis Schalm... Bob Gillelan passed away today. Gilley was Joy Fair's co-car owner and engine builder for many years and had been in failing health. Gilley was elected into the Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2008 and many might recognize him from his billet crankshafts from Dearborn Crankshaft. It's a sad day in Michigan Motorsports.

Great picture Brian. Losing Gilley on the 8th and Ray Baker on the 10th of December 2010 was a sad time in Michigan Motorsports. They were 2 of the very best engine builders ever. Gilley had such a good reputation for building "STOUT" engines so Joy's right foot and driving talent could do the damage to the competition. What a great team Joy and Gilley were. We'll miss him.

Joy had me start putting the comic character "Crankshaft" with the required Gilley moustache on it, along with "by Moldex" on his cars. Basically saying "Crankshaft by Moldex", with Gilley substituded for ol' Ed Crankshaft.I'll post a pic I got from my sister when I get home Monday.
