Historic Speedway Group (Occoneechee/Orange Speedway) New website up and running!
Wanted to let all the members of RacersReunion.com that Historic Speedway Group's (Occoneechee/Orange Speedway) newly refurbished website is now online. Their will be many features on the website and more will be added in the coming months. To those not familar with HSG, we are the group that holds the car show and racers reunion at Occoneechee/Orange Speedway in Hillsborough, NC. Which this years will be held on August 29, 2009 from 8am-5pm. We also help preserve the track and alot of its former structures have been resurrected to its former self. If you love racing history this will be the place to come for the show and racers reunion and to tour the .9 mile historic dirt oval and all its history. Occoneechee/Orange Speedway is the only dirt track in existence from the 1948 season schedule. It is one of 3 racing venues on the National Historic Register. The other two being Indy and the Salt Flats. I hope everyone that ventures to the website will enjoy it. It will be regularly updated every week. Visit us at www.historicspeedwaygroup.org
Thomas, the HSG has done a wonderful job in such a short time along with the group forming to honor Columbia Speedway. With the annual Augusta activities this "RacersReunion" atmosphere has developed its own "hat trick" which is the beginnings of a Historic/Vintage schedule. And, as they form, other groups will join the yearly schedule. This adventure reminds me of the original forming of NASCAR. The fans and former drivers now have their own yearly schedule of activities.Everyone here is excited and we want to thank RacersReunion for pulling all of this together and becoming a kind of "sanctioning body".
Thanks Occoheechee group I plain on being there August 29
Hope to be there for the third time, looking forward to towing my vintage stock car this time.
