Not sure of the exact date Jeff but it was probably in the early '50's. I will check it out further and let you know. You are correct Joe.....No cell phone.I have a lot of pictures that were taken in the early '50's in South Florida that I will put on the site just as soon as time will allow. Henry,The picture of the sprint cars was made in 1928.In the modern day photo of the track the half mile track was located inside the mile track where the four ball fields are now.In the 1966 photograph it shows the half mile track inside the mile track. The mile track also served as a horse racing track. That was the purpose of it's being built.

The sprint cars in the picture are coming off the fourth turn of the mile track with Luther Williams Baseball Field in the background. They started racing the 1/2 mile track in 1949 and ran for about 10 years on it.They correct name of the track was Macon Speedway.
