In 1969, Sam Ard split from partner, John Altman, and formed his own team. The
#82 Chevelle was emblazoned "BIG DADDY'S PAPA". Notice the slant of the rear shackles, lots of left hand power-slides. This photo is from the old "Carolina Dirt Track" magazine.
Bobby, just reading the story with Ard's name mentioned as "Sammy" surely does bring back some fond memories from the coastal Carolinas and also Dillon, Hartsville, and some other locations. Was one of the best under the hood and behind the wheel.
