Dog Track Speedway

In its heyday, the Dog Track Speedway, Moyock, NC was quite impressive. Originally built for greyhound-dog racing/betting, the speedway was a stone's throw south of the NC/Va border...for political legal purposes...Eventually, the law caught up, and the dog track switched to stock car racing, including several NASCAR GN events, before it's demise in 1969. this photo is on Google, don't know who to credit, but thanks!

Hey...Bobby, I remember hearing while I was growing up, that there used to be Horse Racing long ago before they turned it into the old dirt track. Did you ever hear any of that? I know I'm not crazy and I heard that...I just have to find someone that remembers.

I used to listen to Universal Racing Network broadcasts of the 60s races there and have a reel-to-reel tape somewhere from when I taped the '64 race won by Ned Jarrett. The late Dick Jones, sportscaster on WITN Television in Little Washington, NC did the play by play.
