1970. Died in his first NASCAR race, the second 125 at Daytona that year. I've heard this was the only death in a winged car.

I wish they would have done that in ARCA - too many deaths at the superspeedways. Always thought of Chris Gehrke when I would see one of his dad's trucks going down the road.
