NASCAR does not want anyone to even think outside the rules much less go there.

Smokey would not even get in the gate today.

Mike you are ALMOST right. If Smokey were still around, NASCAR would try to have him deported to somewhere he could not even hear of NASCAR. That man could do things with automobiles that today's engineers are still years away from discovering. Thanks for posting the pictures. Brings back alot of memories for me.

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

He had a hard time getting through the gate at Daytona back sometime in the late 90s itself according to his book.

Bet he would have hung out with Chad Knaus a lot swapping ideas if he were around today.

Just for fun go to Bruce Canepa's web site... Bruce has the 15/16 scale black and gold Chevelle in his collection and it is for sale... www.canepa.com

How the car got to the west coast I don't know.. Bruce is located in Scotts Valley just over the hill inland from Half Moon Bay CA. about 25 miles south of SF.

On the site go to race cars for sale. You can see the top with the spoiler lip at the rear glass. This car is a true piece of American Racing History built by the one and only Smokey.

Trivia note: Scotts Valley, California for many years was home to NASCAR Western Operations Offices - Ken Clapp, Bob Barkheimer, Owen Kearns, Dennis Huth, etc.
