Well I was on ebay and did a Ralph Earnhardt search and low and behold there was one of my pictures being sold with a water mark on it as if it was there own!!!! I continued to their ebay store and low and behold there was 3 more!!! And also it appeared to me that I saw several that I've seen on this site! Now I do realize that pics put on the internet may be fair game without a watermark but geeeez! is one our own trying to profit from racers and race fans just sharing our pics with each other? I haven't contacted ebay as of yet but I'm planning on it. Don't know if they can do anything or not. Might want to check by there and see if you are being robbed also. The guys store name is Peccy's place and he's selling under peccy1. Andy Parks

Andy, EBAY can do something about as they having ratings for sellers and buyerson the site. In addition if they are water marked it can become a legal issue. You can do something about it.

I am not sure there is a big market for actual photographs when they can be saved from the net to our hard drives with a couple of clicks.Whom ever is flim flamming on EBAY will eventually get shut down.

Today I had a phone conversation with JC Hayes and we had a brief discussion about this and about courtesy. We think that being thoughtful and courteous of others work is importantand also understand the generosity of othersIn my opinion as time goes by Racers Reunion has become a legitimate archive for racing history in more ways than one. JC and myself agree that RR is the best out there bar none.

We do not need EBAY when the history of racing is right here.

Andy...Thanks for the heads up.. I have had several issues with this particular seller. The first time I contacted him about copyrighted material he was selling he took it down. Last week after I contacted him about several others, he hasn't removed them. therefore not only am i going to contact ebay, i am also sending him a cease and desist letter from my attorney. THIS GUY HAS TO BE STOPPED...I ordered and image from him when I first discovered them and they are very POOR quality prints....

Here's an idea....Why doesn't everyone who has ebay access send this gentlemen a note letting him know how much his actions are unappreciated. Maybe a mass email blast will get his attention, in addition to my attorney.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250744580512&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1364wt_905

Hey guys I went through the process, you click on the item and to the right you will see "report this item" it will ask you a couple of questions which you answer such as copy right infringement and so forth. It will then ask for a brief description of why and then send it. It goes to ebay and they will contact the seller. I also saw a pic David Hawkins has of Dale Earnhardt on this crooks page. Thanks guys!! Let's shut him down!!! Andy

LAST YEAR, I POSTED SOME PREVIOUSLY UNPUBLISHED PHOTOS OF SAM ARD ON RACERS REUNION. A FEW WEEKS LATER TO OUR DISMAY THEY APPEARED IN A CERTAIN RACING MAGAZINE, EVEN ON THE COVER!! WE TRACKED THE PUBLISHER/OWNER DOWN AND JO ARD CALLED HIM. HE SAID THAT ROBERT ARD GAVE HIM PERMISSION, A FACT WHICH HE DENYS TO THIS DAY!! ALL JO GOT WAS 6 MAGAZINES.

I agree, Cody. It is a shame people use people's photos without permission.

Score one for Racer's Reunion....Due in part to your collective efforts this guy sent me an email saying he was removing ALL photos for which he didn't have the original negative. A good first step. Obviously i will keep my eyes open for additional items, but good news so far....Thanks to all....

Great observation. The watermark you see on his images is applied when he lists the items online. It is part of the scanning process. However that watermark is obviously not on the original. The images in my online database have a watermark directly across the center of the image and cannot be removed unless a hires images is downloaded, once paid for.

As far as the images on RR, i would need to talk a little more with Jeff to understand how he is storing the images. However, most of the software used to process photos has a "watermark" feature that can be applied to a large number of images with just one click of the mouse. A RR watermark on the site would be a GREAT idea.

Andy, if you contact e-bay, they will shut down any unauthorized auction. If the seller gets 3 black marks against them they can be refused by E-Bay to sell items. Hope this helps you, Bill R.

I have been lobbying with ning for watermarking capabilities for some time. I'm told it is/has been considered, but not planned in any upcoming releases. My original and subsequent requests have gradually gained support from other ning creators and I feel like it will happen in the future along with added photo categories. This is something I will continue to pursue on a regular basis.

I sincerely apologize to those who have had their property/work taken without permission.

Depending on what type of watermark you want on your photos, it's really a pretty simple thing to add to any photo. It can be done with any computer photo shop program or in tha PAINT program that comes on all computers. After you add the watermark, go to file and click "save as" then name the file, then you have a photo that is watermarked and one that isnt . Watermarks can even be taken off with the paint program and a different one added Ive done a lot of experimenting with photos on computers in the last several years and actually have made photos by takeing parts of images and adding to a different image, I didnt do any of this for profit, just being kinda bored and needed a hobby. I Have really gotten into photography in the last several years and enjoy it especially NASCAR, Im building a NASCAR collection for my grandson. I hope he becames as big a fan as me and my dad.

Like I said on here before at least a dozen of my personal photos were stolen off this site and were used in the book that was sold for profitat monument dedication here in Asheville at the closed racetrack they are few in thegroup who stole these photos are members of this site and they could have more used some of someone photos in that book also.I will not post any other photos on here or anywhere else unless they are watermarked.a lesson learned!

There are many watermarking programs available to you. Here is a very popular software. http://www.visualwatermark.com/

I recommend that everyone watermark their photos before posting them anywhere on the web. There is really no other way to protect them. We considered the right click disable function...but it has become ineffective due to all the available codes on the web for getting around it. Besides...even with a right click disable, one can still take a screen shot.

Everyone will happy to know that I received a follow up email from our Ebay friend and he indicated that he has removed "all" of his racing photos from his store. It appears that he finally got the message....

Don't go on ebay, no money, but my pictures have shown up at several websites with other watermark names on them.
