While attending the Legends Helping Legends event at The Memory Lane Museum in Mooresville, NC yesterday, I engaged in conversation with a young man, about 16 maybe, while standing in front of the 1969 Ford Torino number 43 driven by The King in 1969. The young man tells me how plain that car looks compared to those of today. Then, surprisingly, he tells me he likes that car better than anyone he's ever seen. Further conversation led to the revelation that he has been a fan since 2007, so all he's ever really seen are the sponsor-wrapped and colorful cars that all look alike except for the decals, colors and numbers. Got me to thinking (yeah I know that's dangerous) and I thought that I would ask you folks today to tell me what is you ALL TIME FAVORITE race car along with a little explanation as why you find that car appealing to you. I admit, this would not be an easy response for me to I'm glad to be asking the question! Can't wait to hear your answers.

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

I liked the Gold and Blue #17 that Pearson drove in 1969. It was a plain factory car that always ran well. Just liked the look at speed.

I really liked the #22 black and gold '62 Pontiac Catalina that Fireball Roberts drove to victory in the '62 Daytona 500......back when stock cars were real. It was sponsored by Stephens Pontiac in Daytona and built by Smokey Yunick, and I thought it was the prettiest race car I had ever seen. I was a huge Fireball Roberts fan at that time, but I never cared as much for the red and white version of the same car (or maybe the '63 version).Ialso really enjoyed watching any of the Plymouth Superbirds and Dodge Daytonas when they were running. Those cars just looked fast........even when they were sitting still.

This one's easy - # 98 Benny Parsons. Great, very visible yellow paint, blue number, few decals, etc. From the old ARCA days before "we" gave Benny to NASCAR, ESPN, and the rest of the world.

This is very hard for me....I do like some of the new schemes, but since that is not accepted by some....my two favorite 'old' schemes were Curtis Turner's 1956 purple and white Hardtop car, and his Peach and White colored 56' convertible.I would have posted pictures...but I couldn't do it, I could only get the link up. Oh well.....-Cody

I like both the Cotton Owens' 59 Thunderbird or Cotton's White Dodge with red lettering and red top that Pearson drove. I also like any of the aero cars from 69 and 70.

The '67 Fairlane that Tommy Houston drove in the Late Model Sportsman divison in the late '60's early 70's. It was baby blue with a white top and red lettering. IT WAS ONE SHARP RACECAR.

In the 60s it was Fireballs #22 and the 67 ply. of Pettys. I liked all of the Daytonas and Superbirds. In the 70s it was the #12 Coke car. Gary Myers brought a Monte Carlo to Talladega that had a swirl paint that was depending on how the sun hit it depended on what color it was. It looked white, blue, silver or chrome. It wasnt a very fast car but it was beautiful going around the track. Then there was the famed #21 also a good looking car.Hoss Ellingtons dayglow Pylon Bldes cars were also very sharp on the track. But I guess my altime favorite was the 1963 chev of Juniors # 3 Holly Farms car.

I can't imagine anyone remembering that pig. It was different for sure. Belonged to some cat in Tenn. Motor blew in practice. Gazaway nearly ran Gary out of town. Dang thing had aluminum rods.
