Drive to end hunger...huh?

What in the wide world of sports does the AARP, the hungry, and NASCAR have in common? Not too much. My guess would involve some high-ranking AARP big-wig that happens to be a NASCAR fan, or being leveraged, accordingly. And how does a 30-or-so-million dollar sponsorship help the hungry? Seems the AARP or whoever, could just spend the big bucks, they apparently have, directly, on those in need. Marketing at its best and worst.

Ahhhh, it's an awareness issue....so, the idea is not to, actually, eliminate hunger...that's the apparent domain of the NASCAR faithful. And a partnership with hungry-man Jeff Gordon......it simply can't miss. Why, I'll bet, the world will have a full stomach in no time! Why didn't the Red Cross and all those other benevolent organizations think of this before?

Bobby, those where my thoughts when I saw the sponsorship. Ann and I were actually members of AARP until they chose to get invovled in politics which did not work with MY agenda so I dropped THEIR agenda and cancelled membership. I must admit, however, that I am pleased, though somewhat surprised, to see that AARP determined its advertising money to be best invested in Stock Car Racing.

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

My first thought about AARP in NASCAR...in my (at first glance) humble opinion meant could only one thing....and attempt to tap the remaining NASCAR "aging baby boomer" fans for potential memberships. How many of the 75 million or so fans that NASCAR claims are nearing the age to be considering an AARP membership? Next question...how many of those being "claimed" are actually paying attention these days?

100% in agreement with your thoughts, Bobby. I am a card carrying AARP member and this has infuriated me. It is absolutely ridiculous.
