After pulling Marvin Panch from a burning sports car during Speed Weeks at Daytona, Tiny Lund was tapped to drive the Wood Brothers car in the 1963 Daytona 500 since Panch was unable to compete. He did right well for the team and himself by winning the prestigious event.
