I as under the impression that this 1970Richard Petty wreck at Darlingtonwas the result of window nets being mandatory in 1971. Another driver told me the Buddy Young wreck at Riverside was the reason for the net being mandatory. Can anyone add anything to this question? Thanks, Mike

This wreck was not what caused the window net to become mandatory, but it probably helped with the process. I really thought Petty was a dead man with his hand and arm dangling outside the car.
