"Rapid Ray" Hendrick Ad

Weiand Power & Racing Equipment featured Richmond, Virginia's "Rapid Ray" Hendrick, "Mr. Modified," in this early 1970s magazine ad. Driving the pictured NASCAR Late Model Modified owned by Littleton, North Carolina's Jank Tant & Clayton Mitchell, the ad proclaims Hendrick as the first NASCAR Modified driver to win over $100,000. The car in the ad was sponsored by Sadler Chevrolet of Emporia, Virginia, owned by the father of NASCAR drivers Elliott Sadler & Hermie Sadler. The late Ray Hendrick was named one of NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers of NASCAR's first 50 years by a special NASCAR panel in 1998.

I remember Ray, and I remember this ad from Stock Car Racing in the early 70's. He was my favorite driver and loved to watch him with my Dad at South Boston.

I thought he did this in Late Model Sportsman division, not modified.
