1980 Sterling Marlin, The 5 Racers Oldsmobile.
Here is Sterling’s, Jim Stacey owned The 5 Racers 1980 Oldsmobile that he drove at the Charlotte World 600 Race. He started 37th and finished 16th. The donor car is the Kings Action Olds 442 diecast. I only had one reference picture, so there a lot of reference work had to be done via the UMI Nascar Year books and this board. The interior was detailed with a new ignition package, fuel / coolant lines and I detailed the dash. I added new window straps to the rear window, detailed the rear spoiler, corrected the fuel filler and overflow, added PE screens to the front bumper and styrene stripe bump stops on both bumpers and used Aluminum tubing for the exhaust. Finally, I lowered the suspension and detailed the rims and tires. The decals are a combination of Winscals, Powerslide and JWTBM. It was nice to do an older car this time and there is a few more coming. Enjoy…
