I loved that stroker 396. I think it worked out to about 290 lbs. less weight. Great choice!!Pete

How do you get a "hi-riser" 427 to fit under the hood of a Fairlane?? You definitely need the hood bubble to fit that monster and be able to close the hood.LOL. BTW, is that a 396 on the hood of the 17 above?? That engine was one of my favorites!!What a beautiful build, Jerry.Pete

From the way it reads, Pearson, Petty, Yarborough, A.J, Mario Andretti, Bobby Allison... could get a car and run. It's another P.R move by nascrap to get some attention. Maybe next will be a special invitation to future champion and race winner Danica for her contributions to this dying series.

Today's racing is a far cry from what I used to enjoy in the 60's, 70's and early 80's. I don't watch Nascar too much anymore and if I do it's watching the start, taking a nap and missing the finish because the Food Channel is more interesting. It just doesn't hold my interest. Even if Nascar got it right and made a perfect show of it, it wouldn't hold up to the strong memories of the past for me. The great tracks, announcers, cars, drivers and owners are gone. I blame the media, too, for the HOURS and HOURS of meaningless talk to hype up a race. A little Larry Mac goes a long way for me. I grew up listening to Barney, Eli, Chris, Ned and Benny. They didn't have to talk for 20 minutes to get their point across. Waayyy too much information. I appreciate you putting this up, Randy. Unfortunately the days you speak of are gone forever.Pete

Bill, as for me I'm sick and tired of the PR handlers and media circus that surrounds "special" racers these days. Whether they're boys, girls, men or women I'm fed up. I guess that's why about 5 years ago I started watching much less racin' and started to go back to a better time in my youth to old memories. Thanks to the internet I've met friends who have the same interests I do and that's where my heart is now. There is just nothing today that holds my interest...it used to be I wouldn't move from the TV.Many open wheel drivers were able to make the transition through the years and won BIG races in stock cars. I just don't think Ms. Patrick will be successful. We'll see, she'll have the best of everything including a pretty good crew chief, but can she handle these cars and competition on a track that races inches apart for hundreds of miles? I'm not convinced.BTW, Tony Stewart didn't do too bad from Indycars to Stock Cars, either. If it moves, Tony can win in it. Sorta like A.J. and Mario.As for Johnny sending Danicaaaa back to the frozen North, she probably has a home down south and won't return north until about May. Unless they have provisionals, they'll both go home. I know Nascrap will come up with an exception for this circus, though. They'll start the race with a new qualifying procedure called "ladies first" to have the front row. This is by no means a dig on Ronda or any other qualified female racer...I just would hope there would be some sort of learning curve besides on the job training for all new drivers to a series. Money can get you the ride, it's still up to drivers to know what to do.I almost forgot, open wheel fans don't want anymore Danicaaaa so please do everything you can to keep her in stock cars.Pete
