"SPORTS DETECTIVES" SMITHSONIAN CHANNEL, A SEARCH FOR DALE EARNHARDT SR. FIRST UNUSUAL RACECAR: A BRIGHT PINK FORD. 9PM-10PM SUNDAY, MAY 08, 2016 CHANNEL 194 IN RICHMOND,VA.

Stock Car Racing History

Did anyone else watch this episode? While very interesting, I thought they tried to make the people of Kannapolis look bad by continuing to comment on the fact that "no one knows or will say what happened to the K-2". And a few questionable facts and choices of video clips made it less than believable. I guess what they say is true "reality TV isn't real".

Yes Virginia, there has been a leap year race

Stock Car Racing History

I did not remember this race being on Feb 29th. I was working on the track crew and we were just inside the pits heading into turn 3. I still remember seeing Bobby's car starting to roll over. The sounds, the view of the car tumbling, and me trying to find a place to run in case the car came over the guard rail and into the pits are still fresh in my mind. In the last photo, the guy in the photo just above the front tire is me. I grabbed my camera and snapped photos while cleaning up the debris. If I can locate the photos, I'll upload and share with everyone. Thanks, Bob

Running Down A Ghost: Lakeview Speedway-Lexington, NC

Historic Speedways and Ghost Tracks

Bobby, there was another speedway just south of Salisbury. I found an article about the track and the history, and one aerial view. It was off Hwy 29 & Airport Rd.

Nice to hear of the track north of town. As many times as I drove 85 I never knew the track had been there. I had only heard of a go kart track in that area. Thanks for keeping the memories alive.
