A RACE FROM WAY BACK FROM BEVERLY HILLS CA. Maybe 1920

Stock Car Racing History

Watching those rickety death traps hop skipping along those high banks had to be a scene out of a cartoon. Wish I was there to see it. Thanks for the great pics and material as always.

At the end of the day, it is what it is.

Current NASCAR

Dave, I feel it's no different than how calculating drivers like Pearson would race. He admitted laying back and doing just enough to stay near the front until the end when he would go for it. While guys like Cale wanted to lead every lap from start to finish.

That said, I was pleasantly surprised by how hard guys with everything to lose, like Jr and Jimmie were racing from the drop of the green.

Iceman's Final Race Sunday @ 'Dega; Terry Labonte Promises No Burnouts

Current NASCAR

NASCAR decided no split scheme so the team will go with the Kellogg's themed scheme for the whole car. I can't complain as I loved that scheme.

What's the worst race you've watched besides there being a death?

Stock Car Racing History

One day, looking at a close up shot of a Kawasaki during a World Superbike broadcast, I noticed fake headlight decals on it too. Manufacturers just can't pass up an opportunity to gain brand identity these days I guess.

Funny how Indy was the common denominator in both races, despite being words apart. Almost like the track itself doesn't want anything except Indycars to race on it.

What's worse is those cautions every 10 laps probably put on better racing than a typical Brickyard 400 green flag run.

Stock Car Racing History

The 2005 Formula 1 US Grand Prix at Indianapolis. Basically, it was a situation similar to the first Talladega race except in this case, only the Michelin tyres were affected. So all the Michelin teams pulled in to the pits, leaving only the 6 Bridgestone shod cars to run the 'race'. It was a huge blow to F1's popularity in the US.

THE CALL OF THE SUPER CARS IS TO STRONG

Current NASCAR

He had some of his best runs (on ovals anyway) with the JTG team during 2009. I remember him finishing or running 3rd at the Bristol night race that year running a real loose setup it looked like, ready to pounce for victory if the two guys in front of him (believe it was Mark Martin and Kyle Busch) slipped up. But that was always the case with him on ovals wasn't it; there was and always would be a few guys simply much better than him. If the Penske to V8 Supercar rumour is true, there's no better time for a new beginning of sorts at the series he ruled a decade ago. He's simply got nothing to do stateside anymore..
