I WISH............................

General

DW can come accross as a Know it All. He's been that way for years. I can take the Boogity, Boogity, Boogity, but whenwhen I need to I can tune him out with ease now. The one thing I can tune out is that Darn Digger! Get the rat off the race andquit trying to sell me stuffed Digger Dolls. If I want to watch cartoons I can do that on saturday mornings. I miss Benny and Neil.

YOU CALLED MY MAMA A "WHAT"

General

Russell, I think NASCAR is very happy with the level of aggression. There is enough there to generate excitement but for the most part, not enough to harm any driver and force their hand. Todays drivers can fight, but I'm pretty sure we would be disappointed with the spectical. I don't really want to see a "Silver Spoon Smackdown". There are better fights in the stands and parking lot at some races.

I still don't know how Dover keeps 2 races with so fewfans in the stands. Just my opinion.

I love the track and the races there, but soft ticket sales cost Darlington a date. There are empty pockets all over this country but this race at Dover had the fewest spectators I have ever seen at any Cup race.

Well the post race show from Darlington didn't help the ticket sells at Dover. I've seen larger crowds at Charlotte for qualifing. If tickets sells determines who gets a Cup date, then Dover should be worried.

Live and learn...

General

I just watched some of the 1969 Daytona 500 and was surprised by the way the racing was decribed. They talked of how these cars run 190 MPH, a yard apart. The drivers and teams today have learned much about how to get speed out of their cars, inches apart. Now with the tandmem racing of toady, I wonder how much the racing of the 60's and 70's could have been different with the same understanding. What effect on the growth of the sport would it have had? Would the fans have turned on the sport? I find that I'm more critical today than in years past, so I think I would have loved NASCAR racing when I was young just as much, but I'm so grateful I witnessed some of the greatest racing in the sports history. I miss those big cars.

And the Lady in Black is up next---------wanna Boogie???

Current NASCAR

I can make a guess. I'm afraid it will be the #18 or #20. Both run great at Darlington and this just looks like their year. Hamlin may be a little behind but far from out of it. This looks like a repeat of last week to me. Think I'll go to be early if my guess turns out to be correct. Y'all look for my son on TV, he'll be there.

Give Earnhardt Jr. credit for a good season so far.

General

He's a fair racer but I've heard for several years now that the problem with Jr was that he couldn't communicate well enough to the crew chief what the car was doing. Now after 4 different crew chiefs he's showing a little promise. Will it last, time will tell. It would be good for the sport if he can win. I just hope I'm not at the race he wins.

I may have been too harsh. I think my point is that he should have many more wins when you consider the equipment he's been in. You are right, on any "Given Sunday" he can win, but it's been over 100 Sundays... Too much hipe.

I know I have an issue when it comes to Dale Jr and I will make this promise right here, I will not post my views on here unless I can remain positive or neutral. Thanks Pkl for slapping my hand, I needed that.

A bit harsh, but I agree with Toddy. It would be good for the sport if he could win a race ot 2 a year and contend for the championship. It could happen. I'm not a Jr fan, I didn't fall for all the hipe. I can tell he's not a great racer but if the car is perfect he can win. But the car will have to be better than most for him to win.

I tell Jr fans here at the office this, When you look at Dale Sr you see a Thoroughbred... when you look at Dale Jr you see a Mule.

He should have been winning much more with the equipment he's been in. It's not the cars fault, it's not the crew chiefs fault, it goes back to who is holding the wheel.

2-Man Bobsled Racing

General

I can't believe my eyes. Some would rather have "Pack" racing??? That is not racing. The glory days of NASCAR at these tracks did not have pack racing. It was single cars racing against each other with the closing rate and the draft determining the outcome between 2 or maybe 3 cars. The present form of RP racings is very much like the glory days, only 2 cars running and plotting their moves. I wish they would run as individual cars but the teams today have learned too much to ever go back to that. This is as close as we will get.

Many lead changes, rapid closing rates. the draft, room to race and 8 cars within a split second for the win. Did I see a different race? From the stands it was great. I'm glad I can appreciate what I witnessed. To each their own I guess.

And Dave I agree, Jimmie touched the line. If that is a rule, it should be enforced for every team. Now on to the best track on the circuit, RICHMOND!!! Lets go racing.
