Rex White
Stock Car Racing History
Okay here I go again. Over 60 years of NASCAR and only 5 per year! What a "JOKE"! How about other divisions, owners, crewmen, sponsors, track owners, writers/photographers, announcers etc. And, there are too many on the HoF Committee that don't know sh-- from shinola about the history of NASCAR.
Alright, my first meeting with Rex White was in 1956 at Glen Burnie Speedway on a closed drive-in theater in Maryland, South of Baltimore. Lou Johnson was late to drive No. 40 Modified. Rex was begging the owners to drive the car. They refused. Then just four years later he was the NASCAR Champion. Yes, Rex you are a Hall of Famer!
Just to add to the story, I was there with Glenn Guthrie, later the 1959 Modified Champion, he flipped in turn four and hit another car. The other car came flying into the pits (no infield guard rails back then) and almost hit Rex. One bad night all around.
What do you think that HoFamers should be out of racing for at least 10 years, so more ole timers can get in? What are your thoughts or opinion?
