Those drains outght to make for some interesting racing. New Smyrna has been doing the "World Series of Asphalt" for years and years. Volusia COunty has been doing it in the dirt for almost as long. I guess the folks at NASCAR figured they would put up some cones and water barriers and paint some stripes on the backstretch and try to suck some more money away from the weekly tracks and teams.

Stock Car Racing History
I was in the Army stationed at Fort Hood Texas and went to the race. Just happened to be standing near Bakers pit stall and watched Cotton and Donnie flashing two boards. Buddy actually turned in the seat after passing the pit stall trying to read the boards. I'll never forget Donnie Owens whacking the Dodge in the middle of the hood with a big sledge hammer.

R.I.P. Cecil Flash" Gordon

I spoke with David Smith. He and Will Lind went to visit him yesterday but he had already lapsed into a coma. I knew Cecil from his racing days as well as his time at RCR. He and his wife operated a Hot Dog House/Ice Cream parlor in the shopping center in Midway thatI helped manageas well. They were great people. David said there will be some type of memorial service next Monday or Tuesday at RCR. I'll post the details as I get them from David.

Just learned thet Cecil Gordon has passed away. I understand it was cancer related but don't have any more details.Perhaps someone has more and as I learn more, I will post.
