Chime in please: Kyle Busch/Elliott Sadler
General
Elliott like usual was a class act. On the other hand like normal Kyle was crying when he didn't get his way.
I was almost 6 years old when I watched my first race of any kind which was the 1958 Grand National Race at the Salisbury Super Speedway in Salisbury, NC. It was also the only GN race ever run there. There was also a convertible race run there in 58 that was won by Bob Welborn. It was a .625 mile dirt oval.
The Grand National Race was 160 laps. Lee Petty won and received $800. R L Combs ran 12 laps to finish last in 30th position. They only paid to the 24 finishing position and that was $50.
Of course all I remember is seeing the cars going around the track and the dust flying. (Thank goodness for Google LOL)
My grandfather took us and could not afford the tickets so we sat on the railroad tracks across Hwy. 29 from the track and watched the race.
I live north of Charlotte in China Grove. I try my best not to get any closer to Charlotte then Bruton Smith Blvd. and then only on the east side of I-85. LOL
My daughter usually has our grandchildren's birthday partys at different places in Concord Mills. That is about the only time I will go there and I don't like it even then.
I do not know if you care for motorcycles or not but along with Hooters on Bruton Smith Blvd. is Quaker Steak and Lube which has a bike night every Wed. night. Iron Thunder Saloon across Bruton Smith Blvd. from Quaker Steak in front of Pat Rodgers HD has bike nights on Thurs. night. Iron Thunder has good food also.
Quaker Steaks Bike Night is mostly sport bike riders now but Iron Thunder's Bike Night is more into the cruiser type bikes mostly HD.

It is off of Hwy.152 between China Grove and Mooresville on Wilkinson Rd.
When I was 6 my grandfather took me to my first race in 1958 for the only Grand National Race ever ran at the Salisbury Super Speedway. He did not have the money to buy tickets for all of us so we sat on the train tracks across Hwy. 29 from the track to watch the race. Lee Petty won. I can still see the cars going around the track and the dust in the air. It was a great day for a six year old in 1958 and I have been hooked since then.
