Fox 5 News Visits the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame

General

With less than a week until our 9th Annual Induction Ceremony and Banquet, the Atlanta Fox Station came out this morning to do a live tour! It was fantastic as it was GREAT advertisement and we got the Hof on TV once again!

Here is a link to the footage they filmed while at the GRHOF....

WONDER IF JR WOULD HAVE 3 WINS IF HE HAD STAYED AT DEI

Stock Car Racing History

I think if would have stayed, he would get better finishes, maybe in the Chase. Just look, he was about 20 points out of the Chase the last year he drove for DEI or Gannasi or Felix Sabates, or whatever it is. Sure I think he would have had success this year with the team, but look at Juan Pablo, the only win this year is at Watkins Glen (of course it's a road course) and his cars come out of the same operation as Jamie's. So it really depends on the driver. Just look at his Dad.... Dale Sr had a lot of bad luck from mid 1995-late 97'. But he didn't move on or nothing. Now do I personally think Jr. should have stayed?? Maybe, when Mr. Hendrick there waves $$$ at you and gives you the best equipment money can buy, you still need a heck of a driver. If he would've stayed with DEI, I think he could've had more than 1 win in 3 years......

Tire War Trivia

Trivia

Yeah they are about $1200 a set. So times that by about, say, 4-6 pit stops in a race....that's $4800-$6000 per race just in tires!

Dennis Andrews said:
Did not know that Johnny. Guess that is one reason they cost so much.

Did you know that all Goodyear Racing Radials have a tracking Chip embedded in them to track the tire to who its leased to and where its run ?

The Nascar Hall of Fame

General

Ok, first off, the 5 inductees this year are David Pearson, Bobby Allison, Lee Petty, Ned Jarrett, and Bud Moore. Now I have nothing wrong with those folks going in the Hof, they did so much for the sport, that I couldn't even list them all! BUT.......what about the founders? Last year, there were 2 Frances, Richard Petty, Junior Johnson and Dale Earnhardt. They also are worthy nominees, but they didn't found the sport. Heck, Earnhardt didn't come along until the late 70's. Raymond Parks SHOULD be in the Hof, he should've went in when he was still alive! Now that he's passed, their gonna overlook him more than they should him. He was very instrumental in the beginning of the sport. Not to bash any one of the inductees, but the founders should have gone in first. Like I said, Earnhardt didn't come along until the Late 70's after Nascar was about 30 years young. If it weren't for Mr. Parks, there probably wouldn't be a nascar or not as a big organization. Red Byron was another that should be in there. Kyle Petty said before they announced the names, that even though Byron/Parks won 2 races in "Strickly Stock" it was the first. I also hate how Nascar now-a-days only counts their "Old" History as after 1949. Even though their logo says "Since 1948" they don't discuss that year. Hopefully next year, Parks and Byron will be in together along with greats like Roberts, Turner, Flock, etc. Not these new drivers! When I read the press release on Nascar.com just a few minutes ago, I read just a few of the hundreds of comments already brewing. Most said something like "Cale Yarborogh should've gone in" or something like "I can't believe DW is not in!?! He should've went in the first class" But out of about 100 or so comments I read, only 2 said something about Raymond Parks not going in.....

Now I'm just a kid with a small voiced opinion, but I just wish, just wish, that Nascar would listen to the fans....not the fans who vote DW, Jimmie Johnson, or Jeff Gordon....but US, Racers Reunion. The Old School Fans who were there to witness that very first Strickly Stock race in Charlotte, the fans who were there to see the 1959 Daytona 500, the fans who were there to see Fireball Roberts'fiery crash at Charlotte in 64'. To me atleast, all these races mean more than DW doing some sort of dance after winning the Daytona 500 or a race in California and see Jimmie Johnson dominate......

git rid of the chase

Current NASCAR

I second that! If so, then Jimmie Johnson, the one with the wrong spelling, lol, would have only one 2 cups, And Tony Stewart would have a 3rd cup!
