Jerry Sims passed.

General

Special prayers and our love to Jerry's family. He always wanted to help someone in anyway, but was really happy when he could supply a person with either a picture or model car being asked for. Remember not too long ago we needed a picture of the Helms # 28 with the right shade of blue. He tried so much to help us find one.Another of Dirt Track's "one of a kind", gone ahead of us. Rest in Peace Jerry and may the Lord hold your family in His Hands with His Love, Mercy and Grace. We love you all,Billy and Barbara

The Dethroning of our leader

General

With all due respect to those who have, or may, reply to Johnny's comment, "The Dethroning of Our Leader" We are not trying to get ahead of anyone, in any position on Racer's Reunion. We are enjoying being a part of RR and helping anyone in anyway we can, We mind our own business and share the love which God has given us for others. Some one asked us recently why we always sign each message with, " God loves you and so do we". The answer is simply, because the Lord told us to love one another, as He loved us, That message to any of our RR friends could be the last message we ever make to them and we want them to remember us that way, not that we were trying to lead someone with worldly title. We respect Jeff Gilder as the creator of this site, where so many can become a member and contribute to the continued growth, The only comment ever mentioned concerning the Leaderboard was made to Jeff, concerning the people who were removed from the site but their points remained. We only mentioned that it was comparable to NASCAR disqualifying a driver due to illelgal activity and allowing them to keep their points. That had nothing to do with us wanting to lead on the board.Certainly hope Jeff does not have the same feelings which some seem to have! As far as we are concerned, remove us completely from that board. We are more interested in Friends and Fans which alllows us to be in contact with people who love racing and don't try to cause friction between others. We appreciate all the wonderful members who have supported us with their love and friendship.God bless and we love you,Billy and Barbara Scott

Deserve to be in the HOF, but when?

General

Bumpertag, couldn't agree with you more. Holman-Moody played a big role in our career and for that we are so appreciative of them for life. It's just a shame more of the younger generation didn't have the opportunity to know or need them for their particular racing career. This is where Racers Reunion can and will make an impression on car owners of today and tomorrow. With all the "old timers" who are members of RR sharing their experiences and memories, and all the upcoming car owners who are reading these, they will at least recognize their names. We owe them much and so does the Racing World!!!God bless, and we love you.

PAUL "GHOST" -DIRT TRACK KING

General

We have had so many inquiries about knowing Paul Ghost, and would like to share an answerto one of those inquiries with others. Others who knew Paul may want to add to this as the young man the comment is to, is family of Pauls.Hi Warren, and thanks for your inquiry. Yes we did run on the same tracks as Paul and knew him real well. As you will notice I said run on the tracks as he did, not too many of the drivers could say we run with him!! He was an outstanding race car driver!!! We will never forget quite a few times he would be late getting to the race at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, S.C. He always had some one there to draw for starting position. He would unload outside the infield gate and as the parade lap was being made by the other cars, he would pull inside the gate, onto the track into his starting position. There was never too many, if any, bets lodged against Paul as everyone felt the same about the position he would finish, we believe they called it the "winner" . Bets were only made for second place, etc. He would finish the heat race and possibly clean the windshield and mud from the grill, but that was it!! Everyone used to kid him, telling him if he should ever need a tool, he could borrow one from them. We do remember many people talking about the few tools he ever brought to the track. Ralph Earnhardt was the only other one we can remember, finishing the heat race and getting upon top of his truck until the main event. Seems all the rest of us would work on our cars until the main began. There may be a few newspaper articles about Paul, or at least his name, listed in our scrapbooks. Will check that out when we get home. He may also be seen briefly in an old video we have. Do note we said a glimpse because he was never slow enough to get a lot of footage. There were three of those guys who came from TN. who were fierce competition and could stay closer to Paul. One of them was Jim Hunter of Sweetwater, Tn., and the other we can't think of the name right now but believe it was Bill somebody. Thanks for contacting us Warren and stay in touch. You really do have bragging rights when it comes to your family tree with Paul (Ghost) as a member.

WILL WE MEET YOU THERE???

General

As many of you know, the Annual North/South 100 Race will be held August 13th-14th in Florence, Kentucky. We will be there Thursday night through Sunday noon and were just wandering if we would get to meet any of you there. Billy Scott has been inducted into the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame and the Induction Ceremonies will be held at the Start/Finish Line on the track, prior to the race.
It is understood the Hall of Fame, next door to the Florence Speedway where the race will be held, takes hours to go through if one really wants to view all the Dirt Racing History it holds. It is believed(not confirmed)

the drivers to be inducted, along with other of racings greats will be permitted to sign autographs at their particular booth in the hall. If that be the case, we will be there and would like to meet many of you who have become friends and fans of ours. If you plan to attend the race, that's the only place we can think of to give us the opportunity to say hello in person.

We have been honored to have" A PhotoShow Billy Scott - Hall of Fame Race Driver - 1956-1998", now available online, and can be viewed

FREEat http://www. photoshow .com/watch/tR7wk4Xy . It was produced by our own Dargan Wattsand distributed by ROXIO PHOTOSHOW .
Should anyone have a problembringing it up, we can e-mail it to you, if you want to notify us at
bbscott52@hotmail.com .

We have been told many of our area race drivers will be vying for a starting position, and that brings us back to our reason for this discussion. Are any of you Racers Reunion Members planning to attend the race in Florence, Kentucky? If so, will you try to get in touch by some means, we really would like to meet as many of you as possible ! We will have the computer with us and can be reached by e-mail or on our RR page.

Please comment back ,so we can get more excited.

God bless and we love you all,

Billy and Barbara Scott

Remembering Lee Roy Yarbrough

General

Tim, Thanks for your input about Lee Roy. He was definitely right up there with Fireball in many peoples minds and hearts. He was a Ralph and Dale Earnhardt type driver who took the driving of the car very serious and the rest of the racing scene with a great sense of humor. He will never be forgotten by the Scott Family.

THE RACERS PRAYER

General

Roni, so happy you, too, have an attachment to the Racers' Prayer. Billy has for years signed so many autographs with the last line of the prayer. When there was a long line or time limit on the autographs he had to move the people along to the next driver in line. If you will go to Billy's pictures, you will see his Racing Retirement Bannquet memorabillia and notice the last line of the second page of the program, there you will see the Checkered flag and the Christian flag, with the words between them, "With God You Are Always a Winner". Those words have always been near and dear to our hearts!!!!We also have many more pages to post with our pictures and many of them have the same thing. Be sure to pull up our pictures and take a look.God loves you and so do we,Billy and Barbara
