Nascars Touching Moments

Stock Car Racing History

Johnny, the e-mail I got from NASCAR about "touching moments" was trying to get me to buy a very expensive watch. I don't know what you received but you are apparently more connected to NASCAR than I.

The 24 Hour Christmas race of 2010

Trivia

I'll comment on this one later Johnny. It will take me awhile to pen a creative response to such a creative post!!!

Sale of Red Dirt Rising DVD Supports Preservation Of Racing History

Stock Car Racing History

I already have my copy!!! Any true race fan, and especially those on Racers Reunion who revere the history of the sport as we do, MUST have a copy. It is truly an experience of the best kind to see the beginnings of the sport shown through the eyes of some of the true, real life heroes. I just can't say enough about how great I think this move is and how well spent the time is to view it.Tim

Dale Jr resigning with Hendrick???

Current NASCAR

Re-sign that lucrative proxy racer. With the ninth consecutive Most Popular Driver award those souvenier sales rack up big dollars in a hurry. Whether he wins or not the dollars will roll in. The driver carries the same name of the guy who was a hero to so many fans and whose legacy will remain forever as that imbedded image of the black number 3 crashing into the turn four wall at Daytona and sliding down the track to rest in the grass is always present in the minds of all race fans. Junior will never be the hero his father was/is but he will always be Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and as such, he will always demand and receive the top dollar for everything he does. I'm sure his sponsor package alone equals those of the 48 and 24 combined. .

Confession from a dale Earnhardt Fan

Current NASCAR

Nicely written and full of emotion, but no, Junior won't have a better 2011 than 2010.

The Big Move and its not west either

Current NASCAR

I wonder myself, Johnny, whether or not this is what Junior needs. I do hope things work out for him. As for the changes Brian has hinted about, it still bothers me that he is planning changes. Everything he has changed, thus far, in my opinion, have been wrong moves. He still refuses to listen to the fans, or at least the die-hard fans like those of us who hang out here. Seems he is more interested in the instant gratification of the big bucks of the folks who will be fans this week, this month, maybe even this season, before moving on to something else. On my Facebook page I see many young folks who are very into NASCAR racing and some of them and late teens, early twenties and are really into it. But, when I chat with them, it's like personality thing because "Carl Edwards is cute" or someother superficial reason. As you always say.......memories... Sometimes Memories are more in tune with my personality that reality.Gotta go fix my hot chocolate.Tim

IT WAS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE

Stock Car Racing History

By now you have read what Jeff and Jimmy have posted about the event at The Rock on Saturday, November 27th, and you've read the comments of the others who were in attendance. I could not let all this pass without sharing a couple of personal observations (maybe even personal feelings) about being there in person.

When I first walked in and saw the "wicker bills" on the cars my thought was "this is stupid". By the time I had looked at the cars for 60 seconds I didn't even notice the wicker bills. I DID notice the orange Dodge Charger from days so long past so replicating of the K&K Insurance Charger driven by Bobby Isaac with such success. Just watching that number 71 as it rolled around on the parade laps was a touching, almost unreal moment for me. The cars on the track actually looked like STOCK cars! They sounded like the stock cars I remember from my younger days. I didn't recognize the names of many of the drivers but that doesn't matter because they wouldn't recognize my name either. There was one in the field easily recognizeable in the person of Kurt Busch, yep the Cup driver. I heard someone say he shouldn't be in that field but I disagree. He came to race and that he did. He was beaten by Will Kimmel but not without a very good fight and some actual, real, honest to goodness racing. That's right R A C I N G. Remember what that is like?

I have loved that track at Rockingham since it opened in 1965. The only races I ever missed there were those held when the U.S. Navy had use of me on board a ship. I even traveled up there, in 1970 I think it was, three Sundays in a row before the weather let them get the race in. The track is absolutely beautiful and the folks there really know how to treat fans! I have been most fortunuate to have attended four events there over the past two years and I hope Andy keeps coming up with more events because it just feels good to be there!

Ok, that's enough from me. Just know, if you're a true race fan, the kind of folk for the most part who hang out here, you need to be at The Rock every time there is an event there. It just feels good to be a part of RACING again. The sport where there is competition, comaraderie, and good times.

Rumors

General

I saw that too! I was somewhat surprised but Jeff seemed to take it well. In fact, we all sat together during the race so I suppose there was no "pat down" involved with Mrs. Gordon getting into Mr. Johnson's car.
