Wadell Wilson spent 75 grand trimming out this car. He gave to bill to Harry Rainer after winning the Daytona 500.

I was there as a young teenager. It was my first D500 to see in person. Watched it from the top of a motorhome owned by my uncle's father-in-law. My uncles - who had seen plenty of races - went inside the camper to get out of the cold winds and sip some Lynchburg sour mash to warm them. But cold or not, I stayed on top from beginning to end except for an occasional pit stop of my own. I was on cloud 9 for weeks afterwards.
