This photo was taken on the backstretch of the Indianapolis Raceway Park road course, in one of the races when the USAC stockers ran it "backwards." If I remember right, when they ran this way, they used the "short" course. This meant the only right hand turn was Turn 5. They also did this with the Indy cars a couple of times, when there were still some roadsters running.

Somewhere I've got a Ken Coles photo of Mario in the Dean Van Lines rear-engine Indy car in about the same place. If I can find it, maybe I'll post it on the open wheel section.
