That's Emanuel "The Golden Greek" Zervakis from Richmond, Virginia. 'Manuel's son Butch is an RR member and has tons of photos on his page.Zervakis scored two Grand National wins and retired from driving after a terrible modified wreck at Richmond's Southside Speedway.Zervakis would later promote Southside and owned and built Late Model Sportsman cars driven by Sonny Hutchins, Geoff Bodine and Butch Lindley.When Harry Gant put together his big Winston Cup winning streak earning the "Mr. September" nickname, Zervakis was the team's chassis consultant.

The Southside Glass Shop sponsorship on the rear quarter panel is the business Zervakis operated for many years on Jefferson Davis Highway in South Richmond. Geoff Bodine lived in a motorhome at the glass shop when he drove for Zervakis.

You'll find the Zervakis #300 coupe featured on his Legends of NASCAR page, along with a nice obituary by Richmond Motorsports writer, Randy Hallman. http://www.legendsofnascar.com/Emanuel_Zervakis.htm Zervakis also purchased and operated the reknowned Stock Car Products before his death.

"GREEK" lettered over the door window is the dead giveaway whose car this is - " The Golden Greek" - Emanuel Zervakis.
@dave-fulton8 years ago
Note that Zervakis nearly always had "greek" or "The Greek" lettered on his modifieds as in the photo below: This photo is of Zervakis' career ending crash at Richmond's Southside Speedway:

Note that the "Built By" names on Emanuel Zervakis' later #1 Modified match the "Built By" names on the #300 coupe photo:

you can see that the wheels, headers,front push bar, fenders and interior paint is all the same. This is most likely the same car. The question is who owned it first.

Earl Moss raced his #300 in the photo below at Hampton, Virginia's Langley Field in 1964, the same year Emanuel Zervakis' driving career ended at Richmond's Southside Speedway in a horrendous crash in his #1 modified. Are the two #300s related?

Dennis, that story about Emanuel's new yellow #2 is from 1964, same year he crashed it in the photo down below climbing the Southside fence. I'd say the answer to your question is yes, this was his last car and the one he was driving when injured at Southside.Those are good notes you found from Butch Zervakis regarding the #300 photo reposted by Jeff.
