Hey Randy,The 1st race on the Fairgrounds revised high banks was July 25, 1970 ....but it was the Nashville 420 for Nascar Grand National cars won by Bobby Issac(& was hot as heck ...only about 8 cars finished). This photo is of a Sportsman race that year. Only ran about 11 Sportsman races that year due to late startdue to track construction. The photo kinda looks like it's from the Southern 300 that year but can't tell for sure. The #97 is Red Farmer, #88 James Ham (in Bubba Francis's car.....James loved the high bank configuration &held the track record several times till Charlie finally snagged it for good), #84 is Flookie Buford, the #85 is the2nd R.C. Alexander car & I think Ben Pruit was driver it at the time, #41 is Carl Lane, I can't make out the car numbers next to the #41 car , the #7 is Bob Burcham & I can't make out the numbers of the car next to the #7 for sure (#20 or #28). If it's #28 that would be Dexter Brady from that period.Great set of photos, Randy !! Thanks for sharing !!!
