The IMCA race in Springfield MO ran the same day as NASCAR's convertibles in Sedalia MO. The promoter for the IMCA race promoted it heavily with newspaper ad running daily in the week leading up to the race in papers of Sedalia and Neosho MO. (Maybe others too - but those are ones to which I have archives access.) The ads varied too. The race also got pub with a couple of preview articles: Despite the pre-race publicity, I can't find a single article (yet) noting any details of the race - including the winner of each 100-lap heat. Nor do I know if an overall winner was declared based on best average finish in the 2 heats, if all drivers ran in both heats, etc. UltimateRacingHistory.com notes Johnny Beauchamp won one of the 100-lap races and Darrell Dake won the other. With the NASCAR ragtop race scheduled the same day, it's possible sports writer could only cover one attend & chose the more well known NASCAR vs. IMCA.
