Sanford Motor Speedway
The tandem of Sanford and Rockingham Motor Speedways comprised a Friday/Saturday night racing circuit during the golden era of the mid to late 1960's. Both track were under the direction of the same promoter and featured a 'late' model division made of 1960 era vehicles...very new and very rare at the time. Sanford, of course, was the home of the McDuffie brothers, Glen, and J.D. In the 1993 photo, US1 is a two lane highway.
Saw a lot of wins there by Glen McDuffie and James Sears at spring Friday night races between 1968-1970.
