Business is business, humans are human and racing is humans doing business. There is no perfect world, no perfect business, no perfect humans, thus no perfect racing or the broadcast thereof.

I would like everything to suit me but it don't and I accept it, race broadcast included. It is what it is and I for one know darned well that I cannot broadcast even as good as D.W. and that is not saying much. I would love to tune in Sunday and see one of you guys standing beside ole' Larry Mac with a deer in the headlight look trying to say something informative, entertainingand new at the same time.

As I read this thread I am convinced that there must be some announcers among our midst on this site. To you announcers I say go get D.W.'S job and do it better. You have my vote.

Do we really honestly think this so called sport is put on for our entertainment? Please. It is what it is, an imperfect business all the way from Nascar at the top to Fox in the middle to D.W. on the bottom.

With that said I say, go out to the local short track, support the local racers and see some real racing / entertainment without D.W. ruining your race or day. Just my thought on D.W and his announcing skills. Not a D.W. fan but he is as human as the rest of us good people.

I miss Benny and Neil also. Neil wsa real good and Ned Jarrett tops the list. When we take a look back some of the commentators were real good at their work. Ken Squire was a little rough around the edges but a pleasure none the less. Jim Kckay was a great one. Chris Economacki was another memorable character among others ......

DW can come accross as a Know it All. He's been that way for years. I can take the Boogity, Boogity, Boogity, but whenwhen I need to I can tune him out with ease now. The one thing I can tune out is that Darn Digger! Get the rat off the race andquit trying to sell me stuffed Digger Dolls. If I want to watch cartoons I can do that on saturday mornings. I miss Benny and Neil.

There are still alot of people that listen to the races on Radio. A more mature audience ......Barney Hall with out a doubt is the best in the business.

I just can't get into watching FOX and Speed doing races, practice and qualifying for Cup. The network just seems to think there can't be a race without Darrell's opinions so I just don't watch very much anymore. It's sad that Darrell and Larry Mac have to be on when Phil Parsons (Speed) and Andy Petree (from ESPN) could do a much better job with Mike Joy. I need to try the radio thing to see how that works with the TV on mute.

DW sure is taking a lot of heat on this board. Waltrip is pretty smart when it comes to race cars but I tune him out and just watch to cars going aroundand listen to Mike Joy.

YOU CALLED MY MAMA A "WHAT"

General

During the last several years I have seen a large number of events with empty seats. When Bristol does not sell out your know something is up or rather down.

I love the track and the races there, but soft ticket sales cost Darlington a date. There are empty pockets all over this country but this race at Dover had the fewest spectators I have ever seen at any Cup race.

Dover has nothing to be worried about. Those empty seats relate to empty pokets. Looked like a pretty goodrace regardless. I wanted to take my wife up there but we did not because of the expense.

JUST ANOTHER HEARTBREAK FOR THE OLD TIMERS

Stock Car Racing History

It is a shame that money became more important that the roots of Stock Car Racing. The racing was always good at Wilkesboro.

Anyone with any sense knows that we have been looking for this guy for years. The president called George Bush and Bill Clinton before making his statement yesterday evening.

The job of hunting down and killing terrorists is far from over.

Question of the Day for March 29,2011

General

Kyle led over half of the race Sunday and got whipped when the money was on the table.

Only the media can make something out of nothingby putting clouds under Kyle's feet.

Jimmie Johnson is the one they should be talking about. His numbers in the Cup series are astounding. When other drivers crank em up they know who is the man to beat.

Is any current Cup driver as tough as Cale was ? As smart as David ? As consistent as Richard ? Or could turn a wrench and drive it like Bobby ?

Has Lebron won an NBA championship yet ?

The new Bristol

General

Bristol epitomizes today's culture in NASCAR. How ironic that no longer is this track known for the rough and tumble and doesn't sell out.

I have stayed off of NASCAR's back for awhile but really is their creation. What we see now is a result of the whole package.

No one can knock Jimmie's 5 in a row but think about it. How did that happen ? The series is static. There no testing unless sanctioned by NASCAR or GOODYEAR. The regulation of the cars is smothering. Gear rules, compression limits, can't be too high or too low or too wide or what ever.

Look at the drivers. There is alot on the line for them to win one of these things and at the same time it is no big deal to wad up a car when you have a dozen others to choose from.

There is a strong sentimentabout NASCAR giving a pass to Earnhardt and since his time it seems to be accepted to wreck another car.

Back in the day it would hurt a team to tear up more than one car. You can bet your ass that those guys did everything the could to save their stuff when they only had three or four cars in the stable.

The cars are ugly, the paint jobs are horrible and the racing pretty much sucks.

Can we assume that Jimmie Johnson's foot will slip off of the gas pedal before the Chase is over this season ?
