The Mid Ohio ARCA stock carad publicizes an appearance by Mickey Rupp with his Dart-Kart. Rupp became quite famous peddling his Dart-Kart kits. Rupp was no stranger to racing, having competed on the 1964 and 1965 USAC Champ Car circuit, including an appearance in the 1965 Indy 500. Rupp was also producing mini-cycles, but made his big fortune manufacturing snowmobiles. With his company facing serious financial problems, Rupp sold and moved to Florida before the company became the target of numerous lawsuits. In Florida, Rupp was again bitten by the manufacturing bug and founded Rupp Marine to build high end sport fishing craft. Just like a latter day Jack Roush, Rupp became fascinated with vintage aircraft. He both piloted and sponsored his P-51 "Old Crow" to world records. Today, Rupp's most famous quote - comparing air racing to wedding nights - can be found right alongside quotes by Mark Twain and Will Rogers in books of familiar American quotations: And that, friends, is the rest of the story!
