This is from 1978. The car owner was Will Cronkite and I've read that Dale Sr. got this ride after the planned driver didn't show up in time to practice and get approval from NASCAR. That driver was Willy T. Ribbs. It's said that Humpy Wheeler was the one that suggested Earnhardt to Cronkite and he ran 4 races for him that year.

Listed as Earnhardt's First, don't ask me why I did that. His actual first was for Ed Negre in 1975 at Charlotte. This was the first of 4 races for Will Cronkite in 1978. This ride led to his opportunity to drive for Osterlund and the rest is history.
