Darlington Raceway before it was filpped

Darlington Raceway shown years ago before the turns were switched. The picture here shows the stands in the foreground as being on the backstretch and vice-versa. Notice the "egg" shape to the track and the reason the west end of the track is smaller is because there is a small minnow pond off of what is now the fourth turn and the agreement that Darlington Raceway founder Harold Brasington had with the land owner was that this pond would never be disturbed. Brasington built the original 1.25-mile oval without any engineering help what-so-ever.
