#5 on the Richmond backstretch are
#30 Tighe Scott and
#70 J.D. McDuffie. This was just the 5th start by Bonnett for Stacy in the Harry Hyde prepared ride. Finishing behind Bonnett on the lead lap were Richard Petty, Benny Parsons, Cale Yarborough and Lennie Pond. Janet Guthrie finished 12th, 17 laps behind. 11 years later in February 1988, Bonnett would win the final race on the old Richmond half-mile.
