Moneypenny's 5th Track - Richmond
In July 1988, 92 year old design engineer Charles Moneypenny (center) talks with Richmond track owner Paul Sawyer (left) and son Billy Sawyer (right) during the transformation of half-mile Richmond Fairgrounds Raceway to 3/4-mile Richmond International Raceway. Richmond was the 5th and final racetrack designed by Charles Moneypenny, former Daytona City Engineer. He also designed Daytona, Talladega, Michigan and Texas World Speedway.
