Kyle would finish 5th on the Firecracker 400 lead lap next day as Greg Sacks scored his only win in a 20-year career driving an exceptionally fuel efficient, Robert Yates powered DiGard "R&D" Buick set up by Gary Nelson past Bill Elliott and staying out multiple times when Elliott and other contenders pitted for gas.
