NASCAR first mandated a carburetor restrictor for the August 1970 race at Michigan due to tire issues associated with nearly 200mph speeds…However the true test came the following week at Talladega. In looking through my archives I found several images that show Maurice Petty and Bill Gazaway as they inspect and place this new device on the Pete Hamilton car at Talladega….
