Favorite Driver Quote

Stock Car Racing History

One of the all-time favorites had to be simply put by Harry Gant "It blowed" or "It blowed up". 'nuff said.

Who Knew NASCAR Once Had A Midget Car Division?

Stock Car Racing History

Hey guys and gals, great info. I did know this and have a midget entry blank, and cap. The only other print material I have seen is a record/rule book from either 55 or 56, can't remember, but I know that I did not win the bidding on it. There is a program too that I have with the midgets running Raleigh, and I think Greensboro and Champion. Have to check and post you a pic. May take me a while though.

Bobby Allison's 85th race win in question?

Amen there PK. Remember that back then in the rule book was also the E.I.R.I. Rule! Also always remember, we want you here but play by our rules or find someplace else to race. No politics involved there! (large slow rolling of eyes noted with a wink).

Racing Fraternity Please Help This Worthy Effort - Donate Life

General

As I have been involved in motorsports for many years now, first as a fan, and then working in the business for many years, I have found that the racing fraternity has always rallied around a cause for someone that is involved in "their" sport. I am asking that you please read this and support our cause. And it won't cost you one dime.April is National Donate Life Month. This is to bring awareness to organ donation, and a celebration for those who have committed to be an organ or tissue donor. My wife successfully went through a kidney/pancreas transplant back on December 18,2009. She received her organs from Cinncinnati Bengal receiver Chris Henry, who tragically died from head injuries in Charlotte, NC. Four other people also received organs from him. His mother had to couragously make the choice to donate his organs so that others may have a second chance at life. We had the honor to meet her and the other transplant receprients. The story is that my wife who had suffered from diabetes for 33 years, and then the subsequent kidney failure and peritoneal dialysis, got on the transplant list and one day got "the call". The ride has been inspirational, very emotional and yet so full-filling. Our son now has a "normal" mother. The gift of life changed her life and all of ours as well. Please join our new club as an RR Organ Donor/Supporter. I would love to make this one of the largest clubs on Racers Reunion. If you are or would like to become an organ donor or just support the effort, please write or join.Thank you all and may God Bless you.Sincerely - N.B., Donna and Austin Arnold

Question of the day for March 27, 2011

Ray Hendrick's "flying 11" coupe - enough said, Max Berrier's gold #12 coupe, any old coupe, the "winged cars", Fred Lorenzen's Fords, Bobby Allison Matadors...still thinking....because they all made an impression on me...many more for the memories!

Bowman Gray Stadium

This seems to come up every couple of years for the past few seasons. It will take a bunch of lawyers and who ever has the most money and/or political interest to finalize something.I think I remember hearing something about racing there being grandfathered into whatever happens...not sure though. Even if WSS takes it over, racing could still be held there. The university would be foolish to give up a great revenue source, especially with them having a motorsports program. I know that my son is growing up loving to go there and has grown close to several competitors. I do believe that there would be a great outcry if racing was not going exist. If you have never been there, GO!

National Speed Sport News Puts Out It's Last Issue

General

This is sad, very sad. It is a commentary on today's lifestyle. It seem as if anything that has to do with tradition, history and integrity has fallen to the tech way.

Having known several of the people who have come and gone through that papers doors, I feel for them, and the Economaki family, that their life's work and passion is deemed too antiquated for today's society.

NSSN will live on just in a new perspective. The template that was set for today's jouralism through NSSN will never be equaled. Thanks for the memories.
