There are things I like about each format. For me personally, I don't like the darker colors used in the new format. The asthetics to me are not as appealing. I do understand the ad part.

I do not like not having the most recent photographs featured, as I enjoy seeing a sample of all of the photos put up. I think it was sort of an honor to have a photograph selected to be featured.

Ilike using the blog area the way it is. I think that is a more user friendly area to post for everyone to give their opinions. Everyone has different opinions on just about every topic. We have a personal responsibility to police ourselves and have you oversee it.

I findoutcurrentnews about people and events that I would not have known about otherwise. Iwould like to see more written articles about historic events, places, cars and drivers;a sort of documented resource to go to for information.

The growth this site has seen is very encouraging. These are just growing pains, and you are not going to please everyone no matter what you do. We thank you for letting us give our input. That is what will keep RR on the right track - no pun intended.

Writer Fired For Showing Emotion

General

I have got to hear everyone's opinion on this that I ran across today.Tom Bowles, a former writer for SI. com and operator of www.frontstretch.com was fired for clapping in the press box when Trevor Bayne won Daytona. It is a supposed rule that media do not show favoritism or cheer when covering events. However, it seems that others were doing the same thing also. It is only natural to show our emotions when things happen. I guess now that his higher-ups did not consider this to be politically correct. How ridiculous and assinine is this?I have been in many a press box where the movers and shakers have clapped, cheered and ballyhooed for certain drivers and situations.Tom Bowles defended his actions in another story. I am proud that he did that and showed some respect for a moment in sports history! How far has this sport now gone! Way to go Tom! You have my respect now more than ever!

Name Me Some Racing Movies Please

Stock Car Racing History

Thunder In Carolina was one of the better ones and I have a DVD copy of it, if I can burn one, you could use that. Most of that was shot at Darlington, and Florence-Hartsville, and even used the old Darlington Motel, which is still there and down the street from the speedway. Bob Colvin was the producer. Also, Grand Prix was one of the better films although not stock car related.

IS THIS TRUE OR FALSE

Stock Car Racing History

Everything that Johnny has stated on here is true from what I heard at Martinsville over the weekend. There was a report on ESPN about the situation. The question is how will all of this be resolved, especially for Talladega. Unfortunately, this is what happens when you let business people become minority and majority owners, that do not have an idea about racing and running a team, and not have racing people running the ownership show. It was only a matter of time before something as sad as this happened. Petty just happened to be the first. The state of the economy does not help either as costs go up, teams are forced to look for partners to keep up with trends and expenses. Hopefully, this could be a lesson for other teams as well to look at their paperwork and take note. This will certainly stir the pot in the industry.

Publicity was hard to get (1948/1950) in Eastern NC.

General

Jim, I don't think it was just in Eastern NC. If you didn't have a daily newspaper it was hard to find results unless you received the NASCAR Newsletter. Acutal articles like this are becoming more rare and add more of an acurate element to the history. Even in the 60's and early 70's if you did not subscribe to Southern Motor Sports Journal or Southern MotoRacing you couldn't find results from away races. As a kid I used to wait for the mail to run, and look for my paper when I came home from school so I could find out who won where.

Favorite modified body

General

Ted I agree with you. But honestly, anything before the mid-80's is cool and you can tell each body style. plus, they were actual bodies. The coupes had their style, as did the coaches. Even the Pintos, Vegas and Gremlins were unique. But at least you could tell them apart.
