Cheating No Longer Funny Opines Long-time Racing Writer Larry Woody

Current NASCAR

Will, please keep on keepin on. Your insite is greatly appreciated by many. Just a few different words and this would have been perfect, just goes to show we areall not perfect. I see peope write about Smokey Yunick, Junior Johnson and many more like they are the greatest of all time and we all know they lived in the "gray area". If the rule book was always black and white and we all played by the rules then we would not need inspectors, police, judges, jurys and so on.We all know why Nascar hired Gary Neson,he was one of best "cheaters" I mean innovators, there was. The thought there had to be,"it takes one to catch one".They write rules and we see just how tight the rules are. It's been that way since the beginning,it's called human nature.we laugh and marvel at some of the stuff the likes of Smokey and ,Juniortried to pull offand someday folks will laugh at how slick Chadhas been too.Is there any certainty that anyone else that has ever been in this sport that we can say 100% has never, ever pushed the gray area? Some do it more than others, some get caught, some don't. If we know what they have done and got caught, can we only imagine what they have done and not got caught. Thanks Will, I think I will add you as another of my racing heros. As for critics, I guess we need those too. They keep the fire burning and and make us realize just how imperfect we really are.

Are you running Traction Control?

General

Jerry,I have traction control, it's my right foot and sometimes it don't work so very well and I have a few burnt up right rears to prove it.On a serious note, I assume we are talking about Nascar weekly shows. For the sake of a good arguement let's say they make it legal because if it's about money then why don't they have a spec shock rule or engine rules to reduce the cost? I am sure that little pocket box can't cost any more than a set of Penske shocks that have been doctored up.On the other side of the arguement, it takes pure driver ability to control the throttle off the corner out of the equasion, which would make me look pretty good. I guess I will keep doing the old fashioned way. It looks alot better with the rightrear hanging out and sure is alot more fun!Always remember,"Loose is FAST"

FORGIVE ME BRIAN FOR I HAVE SINNED

Stock Car Racing History

The problem with these Busch brothers is,the issues with attitude and temper was not dealt with between the ages of 2 and 18. I am afraid it is too late now. These boys are supposed to be grown men at this point in their lives but history keeps repeating itself. How many chances are they going to get?Kurt calmed down somewhat when Jimmy Spencer issued some noggin thumpin style of conduct education ,but unfortunately,if it's in ya,it's gonna come out of ya at some point. Ignorance that is. The only thing I can say in Kurts defense is,it has to be hard when they shove a michrophone in your face in the heat of the moment, but how you react under pressure is what determines your character. They know the media is coming at them,it is part of the deal. They just need to suck it up or go find another playground. Not saying that it's fair to them ,but it's part of the deal. Maybe if he took Dr Punch to dinner and gave a heartfelt, first rate interview then I might believe his appology. Until then it's just more words written by a publicist attempting to help damage control in my opinion.

FROM THE PAST and on to THE FUTURE

Current NASCAR

I am with you on this one Jim,the boy crossed the line. I just can't bring myself to say anything about this boy is good except the fact that he sure can drive, but so can alot of others. Hey Johnny, did you ever hit anybody under caution going 150 mph?I have been in fights at the track, rubbed em up good and been rubbed on too just like you. Took my lumps and gave some too,but never used the bumper like he did at Texas.Rubbins racin, but he was doing a whole lot more than rubbin! Now if he had come out of the car and went through the passenger side ofRon's truckI might think differently but he used the truck asa weapon in a fit of rage because he thought Ron wrecked him.I am not saying kick him to the curb but give me about 30 minutes with him and he will be a brand new man with some respect for others! He obviously does not have that yet due to his repeated ignorant actions. If he had some good sense he would have a long listen to brother Kurt about the lesson Jimmy Spencer gave him.Kurt calmed down pretty good after ole Spencer issued a lesson in respect.I say ramp up the penalty until he learns it is not his playground alone.I think they should at least ban him from the trucks and Nationwide series.

Little To Run In The K&N Pro Series In 2012

General

Here's where it becomes a big deal to some of us. It takes away from the history. Winston helped build this sport and alot of us believe they earned the right to keep the name front and center when talking about the historical races and stats of old.I have not smoked a cigarette since 1985 and even then I didn't smoke their brand, but I do believe they have the right to keep their name attached to races they paid for. Of course we now live in a world where money is king and history just don't quite seem to matter to some folks. Back when Winston came along we have never called any races run prior to that Winston Cup races. They changed history with stroke of a pen on a check. Just doen't seem quite right to me. Just one more reason the fans of yesteryears racing have a hard time grasping todays version of Winston Cup racing, uuh excuse me,I meant Sprint Cup racing(:
