Lanier 250 May 23, 1971

Stock Car Racing History

While doing a little searching, I did find a photo of Jim Scott's "Petty Blue" Barracuda from the 1973 ARCA race at Daytona. From what I understand his Dadis a member of this board. Anyone who knows Mr. Scott Sr. could ask if this was the former Prout Barracuda. From what I can find, it looks like the car ran in ARCA 1973-75. The photo shows a '73 Grille but that would no problem to update the car from a '71 to a '73.

Here's the link for the photo from an old thread........

Thanks Jack for the results!

The results show no placing for the Baker/Prout Barracuda... so the car did not make the trip or DNQ.......the quest continues.

Mr. Dennis, Great report as usual...these make my day!!

Does anyone have any photos (or info) on the Warren Prout prepared Barracuda??

I have had newspaper accounts of the car being built for yearsbut never knew the car eventually raced.

Here's a clipping from the local newspaper of the Ad, Entry list & race recap.

Marty Robbins according to the newspaper accounts ran 3 laps but does not show in the race standings (???). Entry list shows #27 Camaro. Anybody got a clue who's car it was?

Dennis, I love your Grand American posts....makes my day!!

Anybody have any info, colors, photos of Gary Myers's Mustang???

DARLINGTON 250 - SEPTEMBER 1,1968

Stock Car Racing History

Smokey Yunick had entered a second Camaro at this race (in addition to the #3 Goldsmith car) with Bunkie Blackburn driving. The car was numbered #131 was damaged in a practice incident with Neil Castles & could not start the race. The color photo show the 2nd Yunick car at Darlington along with the #1 Lil' Bud Moore "Barbecue King" Camaro that I posted a photo of in an earlier thread. By the way, the car that Bobby Allison finished 2nd in was the #9 Camaro that Stan Starr normally drove.

(Sorry the photo was sent to me years ago & I can't remember the owner).

Great Photos!! Thanks much!!

I am still wondering about the origins of the #98 Larry Bock Dart.

I known Marty Robbins had Stan Starr to build him a new Dart to the 1969 GT/GA season but was unable to ever race it due to his 1st heart attack (have photos from his son, Ronnie that I will post later). Ronnie does not know were the car went. The is the only '69 Dart I've seen so it may have been Marty's Dart. Anyone know?

Mr. Dennis, here's the only photo I know of (to date) of Lil' Bud in a Camaro.

It's from 9-31-68 Grand Touring race at Darlington.

Event records for the series were unfortunately badly kept but it does show at least 3 races he drove a Camaro. Click on link below for Bud's 1968 Grand Touring stats.
