It just seems like his heart was never really in NASCAR and the only reason he was doing it was because all the talent in America went to NASCAR once US open wheel racing self destructed in the mid 90s as we all know too well. More so in the past few years, I got the distinct impression that his NASCAR participation increasingly meant nothing more to him than a check with which to fund his other endeavors that he actually enjoyed like the dirt truck stuff.

NASCARracing has just become too static. Cars are glued to the track with downforce, tiresBARELYfall off and the points system doesnt reward gaining one or two positions but penalizes a bad finish heavily so no one tries too hard to pass anymore either.

The cars have got to be more difficult to drive again. You can just see it.. theyre glued to the track like slot cars and theyre just guiding the cars around with tiny steering wheels. Stock cars should be about manhandling a car over bumpy surface with a lot of suspension movement. Thats what drew me in in the 90s. Its becomeAEROCARnow.

I don't really like it when someone gets undue amount of praise or hype as Danica has gotten for most of her career for all the wrong reasons (exposing skin instead of winning races). However I have to say she's exceeded my expectations (which weren't that high though, lol) in stock cars so far. I highly doubt she'll ever contend for wins unless they fall in her lap at a plate track crapshoot.

Wouldn't it be funny if one of these days, Kurt's crew step back and let him get pummeled? He acts like a big tough guy when restrained by his crew but if they stepped out of the way, he'd run right out of the facility like he had a bunch of revenuers on his tail. :-D

It's a good article. I can see both sides. On one hand, you've got to maintain a certain level of safety and parity which automatically necessitates a certain level of 'spec' in the cars but on the other hand, you can still do far better to preserve the 'stock' in stock cars than has been done for most of the past decade. Now it's good to see a return to some semblance of stock car again atleast from a visual standpoint with the 2013 bodies. Another point to consider is that today's production cars are bland and identical themselves and not unique works of art like they were in the 50s and 60s either.
