What's in a name?

Hard to beat Candy Man. His sponsor and the fact he a Candy A$$ seems to fit. Wonder if it will fit when Mars has had enough of him.

What's in a name?

General

Nicknames in sports have been around forever. NASCAR has had its share over the years, names like The King, The Silver Fox, The Golden Boy, The Intimidator, The Ice Man, Awesome Bill, Handsome Harry and Mr. Excitement are a few from the past that quickly come to mind. Nowadays we have Sliced Bread and Mr. 5 Time. There are many more, some that shouldnt be mentioned in public. But for the most part nicknames dont seem to be assigned to many of todays drivers. Is it because all the good ones are gone? Heres my take on the subject.

Nicknames come easily to exceptional athletes and teams. Today the drivers are mostly homogenized sponsor puppets carefully trained to act and conduct interviews like a champ. We see very little personality in the interview snippets we get during the weekly coverage of each race so that makes it kindda hard to identify todays drivers with catchy nickname. We have some that have earned nicknames but typically they are not positive in nature and dont stick very well.

The one driver that stands out is Kyle Rowdy Busch. Love him or hate him, that boy can flat drive. After the events of last weekends truck race I wonder how that nickname search is coming for this tainted driver. What nickname would you assign to Kyle Busch? Keep it clean, if possible.

NASCAR Fines Kyle Busch; Places Him On Probation For Remainder Of Year:

General

I trust that NASCAR will hold a tight reign on Kyle this year. My hope is that if anything happens next year they respond quickly and firmly right from the start. And I hope JGR is more harsh with their punishment. Kyle is quickly becoming a m without a country, self imposed.

Mayfield arrested on Meth charges

General

After what was done to Tim Richmond I don't trust NASCAR. I'll wait till the trial is over before I accept what I've heard as facts. If he confesses I will accept that as well, but not what we've heard in the media. Still hope he is found innocent if in fact he is.

Mayfield arrested on Meth charges

General

Jimmy I hope none of this is true. I'm not a person that see's some sort of conspiracy in most things but I still don't feel good about this whole deal with NASCAR and Mayfield. Something in my gut still wants to believe in Jeremy, and I will until the meth charges are proven.

What did Chad Knaus say???

General

I was listenning to the John Boy and Billy show this morning and they talked to Hermie Sadler about what Chad told Jimmie at Talladega. He told the entire story and it still doesn't look good for the #48 team. Hermie states that when Chad walked up to the car to speak to Jimmie, was was buckled in and ready to go, he taold Jimmie that if they won to make sure and do some damage to the rear of the car if they won the race. All this was picked up by the incar audio from the camera. Hermie said you could tell this was news to Jimmie by the supprised sound in his voice when he replied "Really?" Then they both noticed the camera and Chad said "We'll be fine." and walked off.
