WELL KYLE DID IT

Current NASCAR

There are those who don't like Kyle, his attitude, his personality, his interview skills............but there is only one thing to say about that kid's ability to wheel a race car & his competitiveness - he's very good. I don't know if he'll win a Cup championship this year, next year, or ever..........but at the rate he's going & considering his age, he will be one of the winningest drivers in NASCAR when he gets to retirement age.

Jr SUCKS!

General

Personally, I think Jr. is an O.K. guy............but I don't think he fits in well with Hendrick Motorsports. That just doesn't seem to be a culture that he can thrive in. I was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan and Jr. seemed to be progressing while under his tutelage, but after we lost Dale, Sr., and Kelley started running Jr.'s business, I believe some decisions were made which weren't necessarily in Jr.'s best interest. I never did agree with those two's demands that Teresa turn DEI over to them. Dale & Teresa Earnhardt built that business and Dale, Sr. always gave her the credit for being the business brains of the company. I think Jr./Kelley's behaviour & attitude was nothing less than pure greed. Beyond that, I don't think Ralph & Dale Earnhardt passed on the talent level & competitiveness to the next generation. I have to agree that if his last name weren't Earnhardt, he probably would not even be on the race track.

Could the torch be Passing to another in Sprint Cup?

Current NASCAR

Although I am a Joe Gibbs fan (he has 2 really good drivers), Joey Logano would not survive the cut in the good old days of NASCAR.................sounds like he is going to have to learn a few things the hard way.

Could the torch be Passing to another in Sprint Cup?

Current NASCAR

Got that right................and if it weren't for Chad Knaus, it never would have happened either. It's kind of a sad state of affairs when the CC gets more credit than the driver ------------ by the way, I don't mean to take anything away from any of you ex-crew chiefs out there..........yours is one of the most important jobs at the track & you deserve all the credit you get. I just believe that in this particular situation, there are many drivers who could have driven that car to championships............some could probably have done an even better job. Cody Dinsmore said:
I'm not really a fan of Harvick, would like to see Hamlin or Stewart win it....but not Johnson. I honestly believe that Johnson sandbags until the chase. I mean look at his records, won nearly all chase races every year! I hate the Chase. If it wern't for that, Johnson would have never won 4 championships....

Could the torch be Passing to another in Sprint Cup?

Current NASCAR

Well, there is certainly one thing that I absolutely agree with you about, Robbie. A Sprint Cup championship ain't what it used to be. I have no idea who came up with the bright idea of this joke they call the "Chase", but it is one of the absolute worst ideas that NASCAR has ever hatched (I suspect Sir Brian France had a part in it). The drivers do have to have a certain level of performance in order to make the "Chase", but to base a whole season championship on a 10-race schedule is one of the dumbest things I have heard of. I would almost be embarrassed to claim a season championship based on that.By the way, Robbie, I agree with the other things you said, too. And you're right, Dave Marcis was the last of a dying breed..........I think Dale Earnhardt & Richard Childress recognized this & tried to help him as much as they could.

I certainly hope so...............I'm getting tired of seeing Chad Knaus win championships.

How Nascar should do a fair scheduling

General

AMEN to that..................can't add much to it, except that NASCAR needs to wake up & have someone in that organization recognize the importance of fan support, start using some common sense, and make some fiscally responsible decisions...................instead of making decisions based solely on short-term income potential. They need to honestly consider the longer-term health of the sport - almost sounds like an opinion of the current governmental situation.

How Nascar should do a fair scheduling

General

The Southern 500 at Darlington on Labor Day weekend was a racing tradition..................this generation of NASCAR obviously doesn't know anything about or recognize the importance of racing traditions. The more traditions they kill, the more diehard core race fans they will lose. If NASCAR is wondering why they have empty seats at tracks & why they seem to be losing fans, it seems to me that a little common sense thinking might provide a few answers for them.

How Nascar should do a fair scheduling

General

Well said, Johnny............but it's all about the money now. Nascar & some of the track owners (Bruton Smith & the France family) no longer care about the core racing fans. When these people start jockeying around with the racing schedule, deleting races (Atlanta) which had been on the schedule for years, moving races to tracks which are sleep-inducing, you can bet it's all about trying to figure out how to make more money. They have completely forgotten about the diehard core fans who made the sport what it is. It has nothing to do with loyalty anymore, it's all about numbers. Sad.
