YOU CALLED MY MAMA A "WHAT"

General

I wished they would have pulled around to the backstreach and either hopped out of their cars and "went at it" or used both cars for a demo derby. Enough of this mamby-pamby stuff. If these babies would just "man up". If youare going to fight, thenFIGHT!When Mark Martin and Jeff Burton retire, all that will be left are "children" driving these cars.

Question of the Day for March 31, 2011 Local Short Tracks

General

#1 Hickory Motor Speedway. #2 Absolutely! ##3 I like how they will bring the cars of 1 division out on the track after qualifying but before the races for a meet and greet with the fans. That allows new fans to build a relationship with the drivers.#4 They don't seem to be able to get the word out about anything happening at the track through the news media. I never see anything about them on TV or newspaper.

Question of the Day for March 30, 2011

General

Way too many shows with way to many "experts" rehashing the same story. I think some of these "reporters"just love to hear their own voice. Also, too many fluff stories. I don't really know care to know what a driver's favorite color is. If they are going to have to have all these shows, why don't they do historical show of the track that they are at? I know, that would take some real investigating. Also, according to some "experts" there was no racing before 1990. The Speed Channel used to show historical races of the 60's through 70's, why don't they show them now? I know, I'm ranting but this does hit a nerve with me.

Question of the Day for March 29,2011

General

I don't think they should do this. This starts a slippery slope. If you include all of Kyle's victories do you need to include the Late Model Sportsman victories of drivers like:Red Farmer,Sam Ard,Jack Ingram, and ect. Then what about the Modified series winners like: Richie Evans,Ray Hendrick,Jerry Cook, ect. Then what about the Darlington Dash series? Grand American series? This becomes a monster of a mess.

Question of the Day for March 28, 2011

My favorite track was New Asheville Speedway. It brakes my heart every timeI drive by and see that the City of Asheville turned it into a volleyball court. That little track did not have a straight away and the corners were real tight. It made for some great races and memories.

The '67 Fairlane that Tommy Houston drove in the Late Model Sportsman divison in the late '60's early 70's. It was baby blue with a white top and red lettering. IT WAS ONE SHARP RACECAR.

The new Bristol

General

To go along with what Robbie said, most of todays crowd doesn't want to see good close side-by-side racing, they want to see wrecks. And Robbie is exactly right about the lowest common denominator, look at all the Jerry Springer type shows on TV nowdays. If it weren't for TCM and public television I personally wouldn't have much to watch on TV.

Question of the Day for March 23, 2011

General

The company mom and dad worked for recieved free tickets for the weekly races. So we went to see them. That was in 1969. The race track was New Asheville Speedway. I was a boy of 10. The thing I remembered about the night was that Tommy Houston came in late that night and did not get to practice or qualify. He started in the back of the field and worked his way up the the lead and won the race. The flash of cars running under the lights, the sounds of the tires squeeling going into the corners, and the smell of racing fuel, squeeling tires and the roar of the crowd, this boy of 10 was hooked for life. Before the year was over we were going to Asheville on Friday nights,Hickory on Saturdays, and Harris on Sundays.
